Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 15 May 2026 · Forms part of the Orietech Terms of Service.
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out activities that are not permitted on Orietech infrastructure. It is incorporated into the Terms of Service. Breaching it may lead to suspension or termination.
1. Prohibited content and activity
- Anything unlawful under the laws of England and Wales, or that infringes another party's intellectual property.
- Malware, phishing kits, or content designed to deceive or harvest credentials.
- Child sexual abuse material — reported to the authorities without notice.
- Content that harasses, threatens, or incites violence against others.
- Unsolicited bulk email (spam) sent from, or directing recipients to, our network.
- Operating open mail relays, open proxies, or unsecured services used for abuse.
2. Network and resource use
- No activity that degrades service for other customers — including sustained resource use beyond your plan's fair-use thresholds without arranging a suitable plan or VPS.
- No port scanning, intrusion attempts, denial-of-service activity, or other unauthorised access to systems whether ours or third parties'.
- Shared-hosting plans are for hosting websites and related services — not for cryptocurrency mining, large-scale media streaming, or as a general file-storage backend.
3. Security responsibilities
You are responsible for keeping the applications you run patched and secure. Compromised accounts that are being used to attack others or send spam may be suspended without notice to protect the wider network; we will restore access once the issue is resolved.
4. Reporting abuse
To report a site or account hosted with us that you believe breaches this policy, email support@orietech.co.uk with "Abuse" in the subject and as much detail as you can provide (URLs, headers, timestamps).
5. Enforcement
Where practical we contact you first and give a chance to fix the issue. For serious or ongoing breaches — particularly anything illegal or actively harming others — we may suspend or terminate immediately. We cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities.
6. Changes
We may update this policy as threats and obligations evolve. Material changes are notified through the client area or by email.
